Topic: From Unbelief to Belief

Thank you for this opportunity to share with you how God leads me and blesses my life.

I came from China, a country that is closed to any religious activity. I was brought up with no religion since birth. "Believe whatever you have seen, do not trust anything you hear." Being brought up in this kind of environment, I had one belief - that there are no gods in the world. From young, my parents and teachers taught me that your achievements show the efforts you put in. No one can help you if you do not help yourself. Based on this principle, I studied and worked very hard, and never intended to seek help from others. I wanted to achieve goals I set for myself and eventually gain satisfaction. Yes, I got many prizes during my study and attained almost the highest salary bracket in China. However, satisfaction only existed a while and then disappeared very fast. I was depressed because I did not know my final destination. I could not find satisfaction in China so I thought I might find it in another country. That's how I came to Singapore, hoping to find it here.

"No purpose of life" aggressively robbed my body, my mind and my desire. I was eaten by meaninglessness and hopelessness. By God's grace, I started to search for answers not in work. I realized there must be One, a mighty one who set purpose for human life. He has authority to control the world. He is creator of this world. The world is so beautiful and marvelous that people with some knowledge of the universe cannot accept that it happened by chance.

One day, again trapped in this meaningless life, I cried out to that Mighty One. I just told Him that if you are the real one who created the world, the real one who controls the world, and the real one who gives people life, show me! If you show me, I will accept you and follow you to find the purpose of life. After that, I fell into deep sleep and actually did not expect anything would happen because no gods still existed in my mind.

Next morning it was my job interview day. I reached the company on time and was brought to the interview room. While waiting, I found a booklet on the table. I took that booklet and started reading. The booklet was called "Daily Bread". I read it and was shocked that it was a Christian book. It was answering many of my questions. At that moment, it became very clear to me that there is a God (the Mighty One), Who is the Creator of this world and Who controls the world. Suddenly, I felt a sense of hope that I will find my life purpose in Him.

From then on, I started to attend a church (YCK Chapel) near my home; I attended worship services; studied the Bible and God started revealing Himself to me as Someone real and personal. I realized that there is a God who loves me and wants to restore the Father-child relationship with me, broken by sin. Now I know I am a sinner in need of His forgiveness. I realized that He has a great part in bringing me to Singapore so that I may come to know Him and find eternal purpose and fulfillment in Him. Today, I am filled with His joy and peace. Praise His Name!

WHAT KNOWING GOD HAS DONE FOR ME.
Knowing there is a God who is my Creator, Provider, Protector, Counsellor, and many other things, has brought new meaning and hope into my life.

Since coming to know God through my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, God has poured His love into my family and given me wisdom to handle my family life. Because He is love, he teaches me to love individual members in my family. I do not lose my temper easily now. As my heavenly Father, I can go to Him anytime I feel unhappy or unloved. He is always there for me. When I am happy, I share my happiness with my family members. When I am upset, I share my sorrow with my Abba Father. How great a privilege I have with Him in me.

He takes care of my family 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, in Singapore and out of Singapore. He keeps watching over us even when we are not alert. He fights evil for us without our knowing. When my father was sick in China this year, he decided to come over Singapore with my mother for treatment. God, arranged one sister-in-Christ to recommend a doctor for him. This sister even went to call this doctor personally and accompanied my father for the whole consultation. Now my parents are back in China; He continues to help me to take care of them. How marvelous a Protector He is!

The Christian life is not as easy as I thought. I still face many difficulties. However, I know now that whenever I am depressed, I can go to Him and cry to Him. He always provides me the greatest comfort. I am a project engineer, a person who handles all projects for a customer in my company. One case recently drew a lot of attention from top management because we could not solve a customer's problems on time. Heavy pressure came down from every level. I used all my knowledge, skills and resources, but the problems did not disappear. I went to the Lord and prayed every morning. Days passed fast, but there was no improvement. When I could take the pressure no more, I received a SMS from a Christian ministry. It read "this battle is not yours; it is mine". Tears flowed from my eyes immediately. I could not help shouting out "Praise the Lord". I was totally relieved. The next few days, I was the only one who was able to deal with this case with a peaceful heart and smiling face. "Lord, my great Comforter" was implanted in my heart.

Knowing God has taught me about the futility of our own attempts to find satisfaction in life. Only God can satisfy my heart. He has changed me from being a self-dependent person to a God-dependent person. All goodness comes from Our Lord, Jesus. Glory to His Name!
