Our Vision

To help every believer in the church on the journey to obeying Jesus' command to go and make disciples of every nation. (Matthew 28: 19)

Steps to realize this vision:

1. Encouraging Missions Consciousness and activities among members.
2. Challenging, Recruiting and Equipping manpower resources for missions.
3. Commending, Sending and Supporting missionaries for service both at home and abroad.

Our Missions Involvement

West Kalimantan
Our mission interest in the vast land of West Kalimantan started in 1985. Our first overseas mission partnership in the remote and primitive part of West Kalimantan was a strange experience for us as a middle-class church set in cosmopolitan Singapore. But strangely the odd coupling hit off from day one, and our field partners there have long become our constant friends and extended family. Visiting teams always left West Kalimantan feeling blessed with having had opportunities to serve in small ways up close and personal.

Kenya
Our missionary in Kenya started with her calling to serve as a staff of the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) International in a BSF class in Nairobi. Her multi-tasking and managerial skills soon landed her in a new project - the establishment of a Rafiki Village in Kasarani. Rafiki is the outreach arm of BSF International. The early work was an uphill task. Only God alone could have brought many things to pass. Rafiki's objective is to help children in the centre become literate and creative adults, and nurture them to become godly contributors and leaders in their countries. At the Rafiki Village, the children are fed a daily dose of who God is through prayer and the study of His Word.

East Asia
Our mission couple was the first in SIM (Serving in Missions) to pioneer an East Asia tent-making mission from Singapore. As God led, the couple walked in obedience on an unbeaten path. Once tent-making in East Asia became a template, it was time for them to bid farewell; to return to home church to walk new beats assigned by the Lord.

Though now home, the couple maintains close contact with and visits the network of churches once or twice a year. They also lead a vision team each year to visit East Asia and encourage the Christians there in their walk with God.

India
Our interest in India began with one member devoting personal time after his retirement to serve the community in Southern India. He did this through regular trips there and many contacts were established and built up over the years. In 2005, a team of young people from YCKC joined him on a special mission trip, and since then we have sent a number of teams to visit the ongoing work there, which includes a girls' orphanage, a Bible School, and tribal mission work.

Mission Trips

There are two short term mission trips planned for 2011, one in September and another in November. For more information, please contact ricktoh@yckc.org.sg
